A Rare Movie Post!

I used to watch up to 25+ movies a month, and then list whether or not I liked them. Well, in January, I canceled my Netflix and decided to quit the movie habit. I still watch movies occasionally, but I certainly don't waste the time I used to. Since I was traveling to NYC this last weekend, I rented a few movies ...

1. Book of Eli - ok movie; worth watching once.
2. Cop Out - HILARIOUS. I laughed out loud all by myself on the bus. The opening scene is fantastic.
3. Invictus - loved it.
4. Public Enemies - I was very underwhelmed, but I can't complain since I was watching Johnny Depp and Christian Bale for 2 hours. :)

Favorite Actresses

A while back, I wrote a post about my favorite actors. I don't think I ever wrote one about my favorite actresses.

1. Tina Fey. I want to be her. She's clever. witty. hilarious. adorable. I admire funny women. I don't know a whole lot of funny females personally. She is one I'd like to meet. Her character, Liz Lemon, on 30 Rock is one of my favorites of all time.

2. Joan Cusack. I think this woman can do anything as an actress and seems to hide from the fame spotlight. But I just love her. She can do comedy and drama with equal passion and power. Think about ... Martian Child, Friends with Money, Raising Helen, School of Rock... the list goes on.

3. Toni Collette. Much like Cusack, Collette is versatile and nails her character. I especially loved About a Boy and In Her Shoes, but let's not forget Connie and Carla.

It's been a very minimal movie month for me. Been too busy, and too much going on this week to even think I might catch a movie.

1. Penelope - I really enjoyed this! Totally cute movie.
2. Pulp Fiction - I liked it, though I didn't think I would.
3. Meet Bill - It was all right. I kinda liked it.
4. Tropic Thunder - funny. Tom Cruise is great! (lots of foul language, though)
5. Nicholas Nickleby - Liked it.
6. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day - cute
7. The Other Bolyn Girl - great movie, sad story
8. Chalk - ok

TV/Movie Memories with Michael

My brother Michael is 6 years younger than I am. Growing up, he and I spent a lot of time watching tv together. Certain movies spark some great memories of our quality time in front of the television. We watched movies like Three Amigos, the Police Academy movies, the Naked Gun movies, Airplane, Spaceballs, and so many more. We have a lot of corny movie moments. One in particular has to do with the movie Teen Witch. To this day, Michael and I will bust out in this rap to each other.




He loved the show C.O.P.S. I had forgotten about this show completely, but today it randomly popped into my head.



I love reminiscing the happy times of my childhood. :)

My Favorite Actors

Johnny Depp has been one of my favorite actors since the days of 21 Jump Street, but I think these two guys might actually be higher on my list. I have really enjoyed a number of their movies, and I look forward to seeing them in more.

Molly's March Movies

1. Born into Brothels - This was more about poor kids in India in general than about brothels. I enjoyed it regardless.
2. The Prime Gig - Horrible. The premise was that of Boiler Room except they were telemarketers instead of stock brokers. Seriously? A movie about telemarketers?
3. The Last King of Scotland - It was a decent movie. I didn't like that I felt bad for the white guy since he really wasn't an honorable man. Then, when I researched, I realized he was a completely fictional character, anyway. I'm not sure if I should be irritated by that or give kudos.
4. Becoming Jane - I enjoyed it. I'm embarrassed to say I'm letting my inner girl out a lot more lately. *sigh*
5. The Sleeping Dictionary - Not any good. It was free on some movie channel, so I watched.
6. Stolen Summer - This was actually a cute little movie about a Catholic boy who decides it's his mission in life to make sure people can go to heaven. He makes the Jewish community his mission field. Unfortunately, the boy doesn't know how to help people get to heaven, so he makes up his own way for a dying Jewish boy. My favorite part is when he's caught stealing communion. He says to the priest, "I've got a friend who really needs a piece of Jesus!" Don't we all.
7. Hurricane Streets- free view. eh.
8. Swingers - I know I've seen parts of this, but I can't remember if I'd ever seen it all the way through, so I did. Vince Vaughn's character irritated me the first half of the movie, but I ended up enjoying the film by the end, despite Vaughn's character. I guess if he annoyed me, he did his job as an actor. :)
9. Georgia Rule - type cast? Most definitely. Shame on me for saying that.
10. Notes on a Scandal - eh.
11. Across the Universe- Trippy! I enjoyed the voices that sang the songs. I was sad that LSD, er, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," didn't make it into the actual footage... only the ending credits.
12. Cheaper by the Dozen II - I was babysitting so we watched it. It was cute.
13. Jane Austen Book Club - Jane would be proud. Good movie.
14. Black Snake Moan - not impressed. not at all.
15. The Kite Runner - It was ok. I cried.
16. Frailty - Creepy. Had high hopes halfway through. Didn't care for the ending.
    

Molly's Movie Etiquette Rules

1. It is acceptable to "call" what's going to happen next. It makes you cool if you're right, and a moron if you're not.

2. It is not acceptable to say "Oh, pay attention to this part!" when watching a movie with a first time viewer.

3. It is not acceptable to pre-laugh when watching a movie with a first time viewer.

4. It is acceptable to pre-laugh when all viewers have seen the movie before. In fact, this is encouraged.

5. It is not acceptable to ridicule what could/could not happen in action movies. Duh.

6. It is acceptable to point out attractive actors/actresses. But only once. Unless it's Johnny Depp.

7. It is acceptable to stop a movie in order to check IMDB so you can figure out where you've seen specific actors before. Otherwise, you'll miss parts of the movie while your brain is wandering.

Feel free to add some of yours ... but these are my rules.
