A Page in History

Today, November 5th, I happened to be teaching about the people in the Southeast region of the United States. Our topic was Civil Rights, which of course led to a lesson on Martin Luther King, Jr. As we turned the page, the text led into the effects of King's devotion to equality. I was excited to share with the students that they are witnesses to a great barrier being broken among the people of our country. Someday, I told them, after reading about Martin Luther King, Jr., their children will turn the page and read about the first African American President being elected in 2008.
